2012 Aprilia Tuono V4R - After creating the best superbike of the new millennium, Aprilia revolutionises the supersports naked segment with its astonishing 2012 Aprilia Tuono V4R. A bike that goes beyond the wildest dreams of even the most hardcore enthusiasts - the rider who, given the chance, would use a race bike just to go for a coffee.
2012 Aprilia Tuono V4R will be powered by the same liquid-cooled 999cc V-Four engine as used in the Superbikes. A new exhaust system has been fitted that’s more than four pounds lighter. An updated ride-by-wire throttle system with traction control has been added as well. The rest of the powertrain is essentially the same including the manual six-speed transmission and oil-bathed multi-plate clutch with slipper action functionality.
Like the original Tuono, the 2012 Aprilia Tuono V4R is also immediately recognisable with its triple headlight fixed top fairing, the distinguishing trait of a bike which, like its twin cylinder predecessor, has the body and soul of its WSBK homologated sibling, but now - as well as having two world championships (the 2010 constructors' and riders' titles) under its belt - features two more cylinders and 41 horsepower more than before, while weighing over ten kilos less. These astonishing figures are a testimony to the technological evolution that made this exciting model a reality. The bike is available in two different configurations - Tuono V4 R and Tuono V4 R APRC - and in a choice of three colours: competition black, sunlit yellow and wing grey.
The chassis of 2012 Aprilia Tuono V4R, including the rigid twin-spar aluminum frame, swingarm and RSV4R suspension components comprised of a 3-way adjustable Sachs fork and gas-charged shock absorber with 4-way adjustability, will also be shared with the RSV4 sportbike. Premium Brembo braking components are also the same as the Superbike. The Tuono V4R rolls on a set of three-spoke aluminum rims that are lighter than the RSV4R’s courtesy of a new manufacturing method. Pricing and availability have yet to be announced.
