2012 Daytona Bike Week: Clogging up main street

With nearly 500,000 people attending the Daytona Bike Week, on foot, on their bike or in their car, we don’t have to tell you that getting around town can be a bit of a challenge. One week out of the year, Daytona literally becomes the Mecca of bike fans the world over.

You’ll want to keep the following in mind, however: if you’re thinking of driving into town, you’ll have a hell of a time finding a parking spot near Main Street and Ocean Center, unless you live there – or ride a motorcycle. Better leave the 4-wheel box at home (or the hotel parking lot), it’s not welcome here! Your best bet is to go on foot, and as a bonus you’ll get to browse in the innumerable souvenir shops, art galleries and part stores on the way.

The two-wheel gods are smiling down on Main Street, where everything has been done to make it easier for bikers and pedestrians to get around. The wider sidewalks can comfortably accommodate the hordes descending on Daytona, which leaves 4 lanes open for bikers. Take a look at our photo gallery to see just how big this legendary motorcycle event really is!
